Each year we gather together to remember the uncommon spirit of Nick Van Dyke, son, brother, uncle, friend, and giver now forever and always in our hearts. We walk in memory of Nick, of the love he had for others, the selflessness in which he lived day-to-day, and the joy he brought to others' lives.
The Shamrock Shuffle gives one $1,000 scholarship to an Elkhorn Area High School graduating senior pursuing a career in the automotive industry. Because of the generosity of our supporters and participants we were able to launch our “Spread the Love” campaign, in which our mission is to help families or organizations in the Elkhorn community with special need.
Spread the Love
With the funds raised, we have been able to help the family of Kelly Butzen, the Phil and Lindsay Wester and their son Liam, as well as spreading our focus throughout the year with donations of Christmas gifts to local families. Nick had a big heart and great love for his friends and family, and to remember him in this way will ensure that love will carry on.
Thirteen year old Lane Schweitzer suffered a serious brain injury while attending gym class. He collided with bleachers, and what was initially thought to be a concussion was much more serious. The impact damaged his right frontal lobe. He now suffers from PTSD, memory loss, and has difficulties using his right side. Lane will be our guest of honor for this year’s Shamrock Shuffle, and we will be presenting his family with a donation to help with medical expenses.
